PUNCHLINE: Richy Jay brings us his unique style inspired by the soul sounds of the Caribbean, Afrobeat, Zouk, Kompa, DanceHall, Hip-Hop and R&B. The perfect recipe for happiness. BIOGRAPHY Better know by his stage name Richy Jay, Richard Verdieu was born in Port-au- Prince, Haiti, an raised in a family where music was ever-present. A strong and living musical tradition was passed on to him by his mother, his grand-mother, as well as his Christian community. Richy Jay has devoted himself to his music since 2002. He was introduced to Haitian rap as a young man in his neighbourhood, the popular "Bicentenaire" area. It is there that he created his first band "Hottansyon Hip Hop". In 2004, due to the political crisis and the mounting insecurities in his country, he decides to migrate to the Dominican Republic. His host country opens up a whole new musical horizon to Richy Jay, and it is along with his younger brother Jameson that he composes a Spanish Reggaeton album. During their time in the Dominican Republic, the boys have made several appearances as the group "2B Jay". Flash forward a few years, Richy Jay embarks on a solo career as a Creole Rap artist, here in Canada. In 2013, he releases a MixTape that becomes quite popular on Kisakihiphop. After some time devoted to creating, the up-and- coming artist composes his first album "I Was Born To Win'', and it is released on May 1, 2015 at Montreal's Club Lambi.
