The song represents struggles and what lyricist Mia Liyah had to overcome to live out her purpose of being great. Icon resonates positivism, self empowerment, belief in oneself, the most beautiful thing next to believing in others. From the first listen, when the beat was presented unto her, the lyrics were already forming in her mind and was screaming ICON, says the lyricist.
