Tropicana JiiigStilo Magolide
The gold standard of new school SA Hip Hop has finally come to serve us with a body of work called Tropicana Jiiigg. BoyznBucks member Stilo Magolide comes with his highly anticipated debut album.
The streets have been yearning for a studio album from Mr Party ever since he blew the masses with his Cameron Diaz mixtape.
The lead single off this album is the club banger "Sefolosha", which has been a favourite in the club scene around the country and charting at no.5 in the Ukhozi Hip Hop chart. Sefolosha has also been an Instagram and Twitter favourite for dance videos, which is usually a trend for songs that are popular in social media circles.
Metro Fm and Yfm have taken a liking to the single, with more than 100 plays between them..
This album embodies Stilo's personality, swagger and originality; it is heavy in beats and every song contains unique lyricism that is synonymous with slang from his BoyznBucks crew.
The opening tune of the album called "Famo" sees Stilo showcasing how versatile he is by using a melodic flow over piano keys. On this laid back record, Stilo raps about his family and the things he wants out of life. In an industry as small as this of South Africa, collaborations come about heavily. One of the things you will notice on this album is the collabo between him and Anatii, which is a first between the two. Of course it wouldn't be a vibe without the squad, the BoyznBucks.
"Combo" is one of the stand-out records which feature his friends Okmalumkoolkat, Riky Rick and Mashayabhuqe ka Mamba. This combination of the game's creme-de-la-creme results in the beat being a playground for bars, majestic flow and constant display of umswenko.
Stilo Magolide is easily one of the most influential and marketable artists in South Africa, with endorsements and partnerships with brands like VANS and SKULL CANDY earphones.
To think that this is only his debut album says a lot about his talent and brand as a prominent rapper in South Africa.
With his Tropicana tour coming in September, the fans are still in line for a jiiig to vibe to for the better part of 2017.
