"With the recent growth of xenophobia and racially motivated hate crimes against Asian communities, even with the BLM movement, I recognised at an early age that society tolerates division and harassment based on skin colour. I wrote this song whilst I was in school. I kept it to myself for a while- skeptical about how my conservative-perhaps constrictive environment would react. I was very conscientious on how I worded myself and I wanted it to be expressive, justifiable and powerful in my head. It's a valuable song to me for the wave of comfort it gives. I only wish that listeners and victims of racism feel the same warmth and empowerment that I've tried to convey in this song. The frustration, the sadness… and then the motivation, growth and hope."
