The Boy Slept On "Tell em I came from nothing got a few racks on me" is the line that bids you adieu in the opening sequence of the long awaited debut EP effort from platinum producer and recording artist "King Jillz". That opening line will go on to be what defines the subject matter and thematic direction of the 6 track offering. Each of the songs speak on the realities of being a young dreamer working hard to overcome adversity in the world. It is a project that speaks on the pain that comes with being "slept on", underestimated or looked over. It is a message that resonates on so many continuum's and on so many walks of life. The project offers a musical sense of awe by combining soulful melodies with modern pop structure and rumbling 808s with menacing kick drums. The chord choices are lush and the melodies are hand picked with the utmost care and intention. The music offers a high taste level version of modern trap infused with the individual flair of what makes King Jillz the one of a kind talent that he is. This project provides a wide array of emotional connectivity whilst still putting forward solid rap performances immersed in a honest and believable narrative. Entirely self produced, the project offers a succinct picture of what King Jillz has to offer as an artist and there are very few ways in which this body of world could have been put together more beautifully.
