GREEK. marks his return with the menacing "mshikishiki," his first official release of 2022. The single is a follow-up to the well-received VOLUME 3 EP, which was released around the tail end of 2021 featuring underground hits such as "RHULUMENTE" and "RIP R MASHESHA." The song follows a series of features as well as freestyles that GREEK. released on social media, where he rapped over some of the hottest rap songs in Cape Town and the rest of South Africa in the vein of a late-aughts Lil Wayne. The freestyles were met with acclaim from followers for the display of his lyrical abilities. On "mshikishiki," though, he makes a complete U-turn from those freestyles. Set on an eerie, pulsating beat - a joint effort by GREEK. himself and frequent collaborator and producer Roscosteazy - "mshikishiki" lyrically carries on the ethos of the aforementioned single "RHULUMENTE," with emphasis on a simple yet unique delivery and quotable one-liners rather than the dexterous flows and intricate wordplay he exhibited on the freestyles. "mshikishiki" serves as a precursor to "RHULUMENTE (Remix)", which is slated to feature some of the biggest Hip-Hop acts in the country.
