Myth Syzer is one of the most prolific beatmakers of his generation. Since his debut in 2011 alongside the Bon Gamin collective, he has composed some of the most emblematic tracks of the French rap scene: "Fuck le 17" by 13 Block, "Periscope" by Damso, "Kyoto" by Ateyaba and "Pas de remords" by Hamza. In addition to this, he has released several singles on the other side of the Atlantic for A$AP Ferg, Kaytranada, Perrion and Shvun Dxn, as well as a dozen EPs and mixtapes: Fleep (2011), From Paris with Love (2012), Porcelain (2015) and Cerebral (2016). For the past few years, Myth Syzer has not only been a producer: in 2018, he sings and raps in his two albums, Bisous and Bisous mortels. I'm not just a producer, I'm also a rapper," says Myth Syzer, "I wanted to step out of my role as a beatmaker and step into the spotlight. But I wanted to surpass myself, to go further in my art. Marked by the presence of many artists (from Hamza to OKLOU, including Ateyaba, Lolo Zouai, Doc Gyneco or his acolytes Loveni and Ichon), these albums exposed the two diametrically opposed sides of the artist. While Bisous sailed on the river of love with pop and R&B touches, Bisous mortels took us into much murkier waters, drowned in rap and trap. Four years after this release, Myth Syzer is about to make his comeback with a third project: Poison. Mostly conceived during confinement, this record is the fruit of a long period of reflection that allowed him to search for new sounds, to refine his rap technique and to refine the poetry of his writing. "I finally found the osmosis I wanted to create," he says. Above all, Poison is the result of a deep introspection during which the producer, rapper and singer went deep inside himself. Hence the sincerity with which, track after track, he immerses us in his intimate reflections, recounting his torments, his resentments, his hopes too. This album is the most personal I've ever made," he says. That's probably why I perform almost all the tracks on it solo. Indeed, apart from the presence of a few guests (Kaytranada, Realo, Arthur Teboul, Muddy Monk, Loveni and Ichon), Poison is an album entirely produced and interpreted by Myth Syzer, who thus confides in an unprecedented way about his states of mind. In "Chamaille", he speaks melancholically about a deep feeling of loneliness. On the more introspective "Voeux", he expresses the unbearable lack of a loved one. On "Smoke", he gives his view of the world around him. And on "Get Out", he expresses his desire for freedom - an idea that runs through the entire project. "The message of this album is really to encourage people to embrace who they are and enjoy what they have," he says. Halfway between spleen and ego-trip, between luminous pop and haunting rap, Poison reads like a link between all facets of Myth Syzer. I consider this project to be my real album," he concludes. This project is really me.
