MODONUT INVASION, a record which overpowers and consumes you!
6 titles which offer a throwback to the surf garage sound, perfectly backed by The Real Fake MC and Mike Ladd.
Modo and Mac Beer this gets the 60's sound just right!
The prodigious parisian duo Mister Modo & Ugly Mac Beer have their work "cut out for them". The two DJ's, beatmakers and forever playfully inventive duo are cutting through the muck in a Hip-hop scene that's drowning in bling-bling and ignorance. No more caps in your ass(es), no "bitches" here, no "dope" in these veins... The elements found here are are breakdance, MC'ing, Graffiti and the ancient art of true DJ'ing... "Real Hip-Hop for real heads!"
That being said, these eternal "Crate Diggers" that are Modo & Mac Beer aren't afraid of getting grit under their nails from even the dirtiest vintage vinyl. While they might not be crusaders or soap-box preachers, they are true diggers forever seeking that forgotten breakbeat that loops sweet like the Mobius strip. The furious Mister M & Ugly MB are in their heart of hearts fans of music with more than a catchy hook, or flavour of the month... Real music, now that's refreshing! For their latest release, "Modonut Invasion", it's all about the invasion-- in all forms and styles. From shark attacks to the 1960's anglo-saxon rock invasion of the west, it's all represented on "Invasion". The samples on the irresistible "Close the Beaches" blend dialogue from "Jaws" with riffs from surf rock's forgotten pearls. From "Invasion" to "Rosbeef Attack" (a tune that contains samples from George Lautner's "Ne Nous Fachons Pas", yes classic cinema is not forgotten by MM or UMB) "Invasions" incredible "featurings" include Real Fake MC (on the elastic "Digital Freaks" and the obsessive twist on "She's Mine"), and Mike Ladd (delivering true Western groove on "Wild Gun")-- both Americans living on French soil! Oui Monsieur!
We can conclude that Mister Modo & Ugly Mac Beer have juiced the Frankenstein-ian beast that is modern hip-hop with just the right amount of parts and volts of "Organic 60's riffs, samples and breakbeats" with their own savoir-faire and dexterity. Just the perfect dose to bring the beast to life. Just as before. And it works, again(!)
